Islamabad, January 11; PILDAT, the Secretariat of Youth
Parliament Pakistan, together with the Steering Committee
of Youth Parliament Pakistan has announced the final
selection of members for the Fifth Youth Parliament
Pakistan 2013.
The list includes 61 Young members between
the age bracket of 18-29 years (on January 01, 2013) have
been selected on merit based on a rigorous selection
criteria to form the fifth batch. Selection process has
been carried out under the guidance of an independent
Steering Committee which includes Honourable Mr. Faisal
Karim Kundi, MNA, Deputy Speaker National Assembly of
Pakistan as Patron Youth Parliament Pakistan, Senator
S. M. Zafar as Chairman; and members including Mr.
Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, Former Deputy Speaker, National
Assembly of Pakistan; Engr. Khuram Dastgir Khan,
MNA, Chairman, National Assembly Standing Committee on
Commerce; Ms. Anusha Rahman Khan, MNA, Member,
National Assembly Standing Committee on Law, Justice; and
Parliamentary Affairs, Secretary Young Parliamentarians
Forum; Mr. Nadeem Afzal Gondal, Chairman Public
Accounts Committee and Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob,
President PILDAT.
The Youth Parliament Pakistan (YPP) is a
platform of Pakistani Youth patterned after the National
Assembly of Pakistan conceived, created and facilitated by
PILDAT. Its objectives include inculcating in youth of
Pakistan values and spirit for democracy, the importance
of dialogue, and tolerance for others’ views, an
understanding of the concept of Parliament and its role in
democratic decision-making and oversight.
Youth Parliament Pakistan is Project of
Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development &
Transparency (PILDAT) and is supported by the Danish
International Development Agency, Government of Denmark as
recognition of the importance of young people's
involvement in democracy and democratic practices in
Pakistan.
