Democracy in Pakistan is not limited to a Set Number of People: Khurrum Dastgir Khan, MNA, Minister of State Minister for Privatization

Islamabad, September 21; While addressing the Youth Parliament Pakistan on the fourth day of the fifth session, Mr. Khurrum Dastgir Khan, MNA, Minister of State Minister for Privatization, said that Pakistan is a democratic country where the opinion of every citizen counts and it is no longer limited to certain class, background or party.

The MNAs and MPAs of this country have been voted to serve their people and countrymen. Unfortunately, this purpose of serving the nation comes down to serving our own 'favourite' people. He gave the example of the past Government which only rewarded its supporters leading to organizations like PIA and Pakistan Steel Mill asking for a bailout packages time and time again.

Mr. Khurrum Dastgir Khan, a Member of the Youth Parliament Pakistan's Steering Committee and official party advisor of the 'Green Party' appreciated the efforts of PILDAT and Youth Parliament Pakistan for continuing this unique platform. He said that he has seen many great minds in this Youth Parliament and he is very hopeful to see more in the future.

The Honourable Minister of State advised the Members of the Youth Parliament to not lose hope in the political system of Pakistan. He said that a majority of the people think very poorly of the politicians and label them as corrupt and evil. In a democratic process, things actualise slowly. He said that he, along with his colleagues in the National and Provincial Assemblies, are answerable to the nation but one cannot ask for answers from a dictator. Giving his own example, he said although he is a State Minister, he regularly holds a public hearings every weekend in his constituency, Gujranwala.
